Introductory Paragraph (Power) -Wake By McMann

Abraham Lincoln once said, " Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." This means that everyone has the ability to have power, but not everybody can use it for it's right doing. So the only way to find out is giving a person that power and see there reaction towards it. I agree to this because people see it one way but when they have a hold of it,  some will lose it and others will not. This can be clearly seen in Wake a fiction book by Lisa McMann. Jaine the main character has a big advantage to people but she doesn't use it wisely. Shes scared, afraid and it can effect her life it many ways. She could either get help or let it destroy her life, as it has done in the past. She lets days go by hoping every night she wakes up to a  normal girl. 

I am Janie Hannagan
I am young and curious
I wonder what they dream of
I hear people asking for help

I see others in there sleep

I want to get this issue out of me

I am not happy with this



I pretend to not show others my secret

I feel like they know i can see there dreams

I touch my heading try to get myself together 

I worry about people threatening me
I cry because i no loner want this in my life

I am scared


I understand Its something i cant leave behind

I say its not a big deal
I dream to over come this soon
I try to make the best of it
I hope my dream soon comes true
I am a strong girl

Wake by Lisa McMann

The theme in Wake is power, a eight year old girl named Janie Hannagan. She is able to see other peoples dreams when there asleep. Its not always the best to try to get into peoples problems and try to figure out there life. Something's are meant to be know and something's aren't. That's what I think the theme is in this book.I chose this book because its a person who gets to see and be into others dreams. This is something I think is cool and would like to experience. I mean think about it going into other peoples dreams, doesn't that just sound cool. I also chose it because of the cover of the book it looks tempting to read, as well to look into. My prediction is that people will soon find out that she has this ability to do this and will dislike it. She will over come this issue and be thankful for this. Many problems will be thrown at her but at the end she'll grow out of it and no loner have this nightmare.

Time Square, New York 

 

 

 

 



 

        It was a hot summer day in Time Square, New York. Three friends won a trip to visit there. Alexander a 14 year old boy, hard headed. Then there was Maria sweets strawberry ever. Alfredo a bull dosser was the third student chosen. This three friends were a lucky group, because of the chance they had gotten to visit for a whole week, New York cite. September 11, 2001 they were on there way to a place of enjoyment, laughter, and lots more. Once they arrived people from all over were there students as well like them. They got to meet new kids and learn about them. Time was a thief there everyday went by quick as if a day was only a hour. On there trip there they got to see one of the most amazing things ever. A golden eagle, a new bird that had came to life and lived  in Time Square New York. It was a rollercoaster of fun learning about this bird every kid that saw it couldn't get away from it. They wanted to know more and more. When the week was over no one could believe it, it had gone by so fast that it felt as if they only where there for a day. Buckets of tears were cried of kids that didn't want to leave. The good part about this was the memory's they were able to hold on to. This kids know had a story to tell to those who haven't been there and to there family members wishing they would be back one day.

Hero

  The quote say that anyone can be a hero, its a ordinary individual. They over come any problems obstacles, and challenges life throws at them. I agree with this quote because of the way it says an ordinary individual can be a hero. Many people who have over come there problems are hero's and are leaders to others. Those who sit and watch and let themselves get defeated are the once that wish to be a hero. My life hasn't been perfect, neither has everyone else. There has been obstacles that have hit me hard but i have over came them and passed my fears. These are the things that build a person and show who they really are. My family hit hard times with family deaths relationship problems but like a hero we have all over came them.
